A long walking trail that passes sandy beaches and towering cliffs, book-ended by lighthouses
This scenic stretch of the Kinki Nature Trail takes in the Pacific coastline near Shima City. It requires little in the way of equipment or hiking experience. A bus runs from Kintetsu Ugata Station in the city to Anori Village. The trail's starting point, at Anorisaki Lighthouse, is an easy 15-minute walk from the village.
As it winds south toward Daiosaki Lighthouse, the trail chiefly follows the roadway. Occasionally the path will lead you alongside the shore or down small roads used as coastal embankments, giving you glimpses of local life. As you approach Daiosaki Lighthouse, you'll find the way lined with restaurants and cafes, souvenir shops and fish markets, all adding to the atmosphere of a thriving fishing village.
Since local bus services cover much of the route, it's easy to head back to the start of the trail or walk just a small section of it.
