Discover the creatures of the Seto Inland Sea at one of Japan's most picturesque aquariums
Miyajima is known for its scenic beauty. In keeping with its surroundings, the Miyajima Aquarium houses salt and freshwater creatures, live sea lions, playful otters and offers visitors the chance to pet a Humboldt penguin.

How to Get There
The closest train stations are JR Miyajimaguchi Station or Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station.
From Hiroshima Station, take the JR Sanyo Line. It's about 25 minutes to Miyajimaguchi Station. Then, from Miyajimaguchi Pier, take a ferry for 10 minutes to Miyajima Pier, a popular nearby attraction. From there, Miyajima Aquarium is 25 minutes on foot.
A wide range of experiences to enjoy
As well as a wide variety of aquatic life on display, at the Setouchi Laboratory there are events where visitors can learn about the aquarium animals. Fun quizzes and games are a great way to help children retain the information they've picked up while strolling through the aquarium, while the "Rocky Shore of Friendship" touch pool is another attraction suitable for the young ones. For a very local take on aquatic life, make sure to visit the Miyajima Mudflats attraction.
Outdoor and other facilities
Light meals are available at the aquarium's informal in-house cafe, while the well-stocked museum shop sells souvenirs and snacks.
