A hilltop park great for picnics and crisscrossed with running trails
Located to the north of the city about a 15-minute walk from Ohori Park Station, Nishi Park is one of Fukuoka's best spots for cherry blossoms during the spring.

How to Get There
Nishi Park can be reached by bus or by a steep 15-minute or so walk from Ohori Park Station on the Airport Subway line.
The entrance to the park is marked by a huge torii gate.
A shrine dedicated to the local ruling clan
From the bottom of Nishi Park, a long stone staircase leads to Terumo-jinja, a shrine dedicated to members of the Kuroda family, Fukuoka's ruling nobility from the 16th century onward.
Flowers and islands
During flower-viewing season, the avenue leading up to the park is lined with stalls selling food and drink.
In the park you can see Fukuoka Tower , and the northern parts of Fukuoka City, including the islands of Shikanoshima and Nokonoshima . The trails are favored by local runners.
The spot blossoms in late winter and spring
There are around 1,300 cherry trees in the park, which flower during hanami season starting in late-March. The park is popular with locals wanting to picnic beneath the flowering cherry trees.
