Kumagaya Sakura Tsutsumi Cherry Blossoms 熊谷桜堤の桜

Along the riverbank of the Arakawa River at Kumagaya Sakura Tsutsumi , cherry trees turn pale pink from the end of March to the beginning of April. Here, you can stroll along the river or enjoy a picnic while enjoying the cherry trees.

Kumagaya Sakura Tsutsumi is easily accessed by train.

From Tokyo, take a train to Kumagaya Station. The river is just a seven-minute walk away. Kumagaya Station is served by the Takasaki, Shonan-Shinjuku, Ueno-Tokyo and Chichibu lines, along with the Joetsu and Hokuriku shinkansen lines.

There are about 500 cherry trees along the Arakawa riverbank for a stretch of two kilometers at Kumagaya Sakura Tsutsumi. Along with the cherry trees, the nanohana, or rapeseed, flowers also bloom at the same time. This creates a spectacular contrast with the violet, pink and white above and the bright yellow below.

During the cherry blossom season, the otherwise quiet riverbank is alive with people of all ages enjoying the blooming flowers. Vendors set up stalls nearby and sell snacks and drinks. A path runs along the side of the Arakawa River that is perfect for strolling.

For a great full day of cherry blossom viewing, you can also stop at Omiya Park and Hikawa Shrine on the way to Kumagaya from Tokyo .
