Muramatsu Park Cherry Blossom Festival 村松公園桜まつり

The Muramatsu Park Cherry Blossom Festival is guaranteed to entertain the kids as much as the adults. Muramatsu Park, one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots, in northern Niigata Prefecture is home to around 3,000 cherry blossom trees. Come and enjoy the festive atmosphere throughout April.

Muramatsu Park can easily be reached by public transportation and by car.

By train, take the Joetsu Shinkansen to Niigata Station, then transfer to JR Banetsu Nishi Line and get off at Gosen Station. From there, hop on a 30-minute bus to Muramatsu Park Front bus stop.

By car, Muramatsu Park is 25 minutes away from the Yasuda Interchange on the Banetsu Expressway. It is also 50 minutes away from the Tsubame-Sanjo Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.

In spring, the park fills with the pink and white of blooming cherry blossoms from around 3,000 cherry trees.

Visit at night for the park's light-up event. The dynamic yellow and white lights give the flowers an even more substantial, colorful veil.

During the viewing period, food stalls and game stations line up the passages of the park, making sure that visitors get their share of takoyaki, pan-fried soba, chocolate-coated banana and more. The crowd adds energy to the park.

Cherry blossom viewing at Muramatsu Park is not only for adults to enjoy. There is plenty of playground equipment for kids and lots of space for a picnic under the cherry blossom trees. Many families are return visitors to this park when April rolls around.
