Aizu Highland 会津高原

Aizu Highland is unbeatable when it comes to appreciating the full extent of nature's beauty. Part of southwestern Fukushima, Aizu Highland includes crystal clear rivers and ski slopes with powder snow in the winter.

Aizu Highland is accessible by train to Aizu-Kogen Ozeguchi Station.

From the Tokyo area, you can take a direct Tobu Limited Express train from Asakusa Station or Kitasenju Station to Aizu Kogen Ozeguchi Station. It takes about 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Traveling around the Aizu Highland area by rental car is highly recommended, as the train network is not as extensive as in the rest of Japan.

Despite being most famous for ski resorts, Aizu Highland has many other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed in any season.

Fishing is very popular in the mountain streams in spring and fall, and the Oze area is perfect for sightseeing year-round.

Ouchi-juku , a well-preserved town from the Edo period (1603-1867), is within the Aizu Highland area and is a beautiful day trip back in time because of its traditional houses and temples.
