Roller coasters, a bungee jump and more right in the middle of the city

Yomiuri Land has been serving up fun and entertainment to Tokyoites since 1964. With 43 attractions and seasonal activities, the park is a supersized playground for both children and adults. See cherry blossoms in spring, dive in pools in summer, and stroll through a winter landscape filled with lights sparkling like thousands of jewels. There's a bungee jump if you're into thrills.

Don't Miss

  • Around 1,000 cherry trees blooming in spring
  • Riding Bandit–a roller coaster that runs through the trees
  • Walking through the winter illumination

How to Get There

Yomiuri Land is around 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo.

From Shinjuku Station, ride the Keio Line and get off at Keio Yomiuri Land Station. From there, either ride the Odakyu bus to the amusement park or take the Sky Shuttle gondola.

You can take the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku Station to Yomiuri Land-Mae Station. There's a bus bound for Yomiuri Land outside the station.

A roller coaster run with a view

The park's main attraction is a roller coaster called Bandit. The ride is especially beautiful in spring during cherry blossom season since a portion of Bandit's track runs right through the trees at 110 kilometers per hour.

There are two vertical liftoffs, Crazy Hyuuu and Crazy Stooon, that will give you a high-level view of the surroundings.

Summertime is a nonstop pool party

When summer comes, Yomiuri Land's water amusement park opens for business. The park has five pools and three slides, and you can watch live performances as you cool off in refreshing waters.

Where kids learn how to make stuff

Among the park's latest additions is a collection of attractions that introduce children to the fun of making things. Kids can make their own cup noodles and fashion accessories. Rides based on these themes are also available for both children and adults.

Banishing the gloom of winter

Lighting up the cold winter nights is a big deal throughout Japan, and Yomiuri's illumination season is an eagerly awaited event every year. The theme park's illumination is among Tokyo's best, and is a great place for a romantic date spent strolling under sparkling lights.
