A world-famous hot spring theme park where you can bathe in coffee or wine
Hakone Kowakien Yunessun is a hot spring leisure facility located in the center of Hakone . Known as the hot spring theme park, Yunessun offers you a number of unique baths made for friends and families to enjoy together. With both clothed and non-clothed areas, Yunessun is the perfect place for those who are not quite ready to bare it all in front of strangers.
Don't Miss
- The coffee hot spring, a real java bath where you can get your caffeine fix while soaking
- The red wine hot spring, which feels like being steeped in mulled wine
How to Get There
Yunessun is accessible by train and then bus from Tokyo.
Take the JR Tokaido Line from Tokyo Station to Odawara Station (35 minutes by Shinkansen, an hour and a half by train). From there, take the Hakone Tozan Bus or Izu-Hakone Bus to Kowakien bus stop (40 minutes). Yunessun is just a short walk from the bus stop.
Take a bath in fun and exciting hot springs
Yunessun is most famous for hot springs that combine some of your favorite beverages with natural spring waters. One is the coffee hot spring. Several times a day, staff pour home-brewed coffee into this bath.
Another beverage-based bathing experience is the red wine hot spring, with its huge 3.6-meter-tall wine bottle. If you're lucky, you may even be present to witness the wine show in which staff members spray bathers with a bottle of Yunessun wine. Whether you see the show or not, the red wine bath is perfect for a wine lover.
Other notable bath experiences include Rodeo Mountain, a rotenburo outdoor bath with a big water slide, and God's Aegean Sea, a large indoor hot spring.
Wind down in traditional-style hot springs
If you're looking for a more conventional Japanese hot spring experience, consider a trip to the Mori no Yu area. This non-clothed area is filled with the high-quality hot water Hakone is known for, and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The Mori no Yu area is the perfect spot to relax after a day of fun at Yunessun.
Private bathing
If you'd prefer the seclusion of a private bath, rental baths are available for hourly use.
