A wide-open, green space with stunning views of Mount Fuji
Looking like a tranquil part of New Zealand—except for the looming Mt. Fuji in the background—Makiba Park is a public park dedicated to relaxing and interacting with animals.
How to Get There
Makiba Park is accessible by car.
The closest station is Kiyosato Station, which is a 10-minute drive away.
Quick Facts
Much of the parklands are used for grazing horses, sheep and cattle
There is a restaurant and food market on site, with local produce
Children can visit the petting zoo to meet the animals
Famous local beef
The restaurant in the park serves locally-sourced foods, such as highland vegetables and the succulent Koshu wine beef, which is produced by feeding cattle wine lees, the rich paste left over from fermentation. The beef is said to be made much more tender due to this unique feed.
Helping the community
The park also has a community hall, which informs guests on how money earned at the park is redistributed throughout the local community.
Opening hours
The park is free to enter. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday to Sunday during mid-April to mid-November.
