Create personalized souvenirs to remember Japan and Kyoto
The Kyoto Handicraft Center offers nine short courses (approx. 40-70 minutes long) in traditional arts and crafts. Choose from making damascene accessories, decorating fans, and many others. You can even create a custom blend of incense to take home with you.

How to Get There
Kyoto Handicraft Center is accessible by train, by bus or by car.
By train
Take the Keihan Main Line to Jingu Marutamachi Station and walk 10 minutes.
Take the Underground Tozai Line to Higashiyama Station and walk 15 minutes.
By bus
From the JR, Kintetsu and Kyoto Underground Station, take the number 206 bus headed toward Daitokuji, Kita-oji Terminal and stop at Kumano-Jinja-Mae, then walk three minutes.
From Shijo Kawaramachi, take the number 31 bus to Takano, Kokusaikan Station, Iwakura; the number 201 bus to Gion, Hyakumanben or the number 203 bus to Gion, Kumano, Ginkakuji. Stop at Kumano-Jinja-Mae, then walk three minutes.

The perfect souvenirs surround you
If you enjoy Japanese traditional arts but don't have the inclination to try them out for yourself, stores selling all types of arts and crafts are collected together in the center. This makes it a great place to pick up souvenirs and keepsakes for yourself and everyone back home.
Pottery, woodworking, paper goods, fabric and cloth items, traditional (and less traditional) clothing, and Japanese alcohol, tea, and sweets are some of the many items that can be purchased here.

Restaurants are also available here. Shoami offers an elegant dining experience, with course menus that change seasonally. Reservations are required.
