Fishing for Japanese smelt at the foot of Mt. Fuji

Lake Yamanaka, located in Yamanashi Prefecture, is a prime location for Japanese smelt fishing. The lake is open for fishing by boat from September to June and does not freeze in winter. Its location at the foot of Mt. Fuji grants postcard-like views. Nearby attractions include wakeboarding and standup paddleboarding in summer, as well as a handful of museums and parks.
