One of Japan's top fly-fishing destinations
Lake Akan in eastern Hokkaido is home to a variety of fish, including whitespotted char, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon,and Sakhalin taimen. The lake is one of eastern Japan’s premier fly-fishing destinations. The fishing seasons here are mid-May to late June and mid-October to late November. In addition to fishing, the Akan area is home to Indigenous Ainu culture and hot springs.
