Takayama may well be one of the greenest cities in Japan, as 90 percent of its area is forested and it is adjacent to the lush woods and towering mountains of  Chubusangaku National Park.

Delve deep into this rich natural landscape on adventurous tours that follow the region’s pristine waterways, thanks to specially trained guides. An ideal activity for cooling off during Japan’s hot summers, during this shower trekking tour, you will climb waterfalls, jump into natural pools, and enjoy swimming in the clear, cool water.  As no one lives upstream of the section you will be exploring, the water is pure and clean.

If you are lucky, you may even spot some of the local wildlife heading to the river for a drink, such as wild boar, tanuki raccoon dogs, and a variety of birds.

During the tour, the guide will  take photos and send them to you later free of charge as mementos of your adventure. All equipment you need will be provided onsite, so just bring your swimwear and join in on the fun. The tours are safe for young children and are popular with families.
