Feel Japan’s distinct seasons and immerse yourself in natural beauty at the flower farms in this highland town of central Hiroshima

Located almost in the center of Hiroshima Prefecture, Sera is a highland town with a series of beautiful flower fields. Rather than simply gazing out on the fields from afar, this is a place to experience being surrounded by flowers at some of Japan's largest flower farms. In the midst of majestic nature, with the sound of the wind and birds chirping as background music, you can touch and smell the flowers in the gardens, creating an extraordinary experience that stimulates all five senses.
There are four different farms within Sera for enjoying the flowers. Sera Kogen Farm is famous for its cherry blossoms, tulips, sunflowers, and dahlias. Flower Village Kamu no Sato features moss phlox, nemophila, hydrangeas, kochia, and cosmos. Sora no Hanabata Serakogen Hana no Mori delights visitors with its English roses and perennial garden, while the highlights of Sera Fuji Garden are its wisteria and lupine.
With such a wide variety of flora, there is bound to be something in bloom in spring, summer, and autumn. Even in winter, you’ll be able to enjoy a magical sight during Candle Night, when candles are placed along the paths or other areas of Hana no Mori’s farm, illuminating the night with their warm and tranquil flickering light.
How to get there
From Shin-Osaka Station, take the Sanyo Shinkansen to Hiroshima Station (about 1 hour 30 minutes), take the bus to the Hiroshima Bus Center (about 10 minutes), then transfer to the highway bus and get off at the Kozan Eigyosho bus stop (1 hour and 30 minutes). A 15-minute drive by car will take you to the flower farms.
Serakogen is about 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus and taxi from Hiroshima Station.
